What type of springs are better extension or torsion?

Extension and torsion springs are two types of springs you can find on todays garage doors. Extension springs attach on each side of the door and stretch along the track when the door is closed. Torsion springs are located above the door opening and are mounted to the header on a shaft. Torsion springs are wound and do not stretch or expand when the door is moved. Torsion springs tend to operate the door better overall and are a safer option than extension springs.

Should I go with an insulated or non-insulated door?

This depends on your situation- if you have a detached garage or a space you are not heating then an uninsulated door may be a good option for you. will you be using your garage as a workshop or have a living space above your garage?  Then an insulated door might be for you. Insulated doors help with heat retention in the winter as well as cold retention in the summer and noise reduction.

Does my door require maintenance?

We recommend doing a preventative maintenance once every 6 months to 1 year (depending how often you use your door) This includes lubing moving parts (hinges & rollers) springs and the operator. Making any necessary adjustments to the tracks and door. Visually inspecting cables and door for visible wear and tear. This helps ensure the door is operating as it should and helps extend the life of your door and springs.
